About

Product. Technology. Futures.

For the past 30 years I’ve built and managed digital products, working across strategic foresight, product management and engineering. I started as a developer — co-authoring 11 programming books between 2000 and 2004, most of which are still listed on my Amazon author page — before moving into technical leadership and then product strategy.

That path has run through a handful of industries: advertising, at Saatchi & Saatchi, where I led the digital division; broadcast media, at Primedia Broadcasting, where I built the digital team from a handful of people into a full product, engineering and data function; conversational AI, as Head of Product at Elerian AI; and now fintech, as Group Product Manager at Luno, where I work on liquidity and exchange systems. Different domains, but the same underlying job — understanding a complex system well enough to know what to build next.

The foresight side of that is formal as well as practical. I hold an MPhil in Futures Studies from Stellenbosch Business School (cum laude), researching the impact of generative AI on creativity, and I layer futures studies tools into day-to-day product management — thinking about where a product or a market is headed, not just where it is.

This site collects two threads of that work. Projects is a running list of things I’ve built — some current, some archived and kept around for interest. Writing is longer-form, occasionally evergreen material on product, technology and the frameworks I use to think about both.
