Lipglossary - Colour codes for Lip Gloss

October 4, 2025

When building Chartea I was looking for a reference of the colours in Lip Gloss. I couldn’t find anything handy, so I built a previewer.

Lipglossary simply iterates through each of the ANSI-16 and ANSI-256 colour codes within Lip Gloss, and draws them in your terminal emulator. This is how they look in mine (Ghostty, default color scheme):

ANSI-16:

ANSI-256:

Update 2025-11-19:

Decided to try the new Google Antigravity IDE with Gemini 3 and made instructed the following changes:

  • Made the tabs look more like tabs
  • Changed the ANSI-256 grid to a list view with the same line height as the ANSI-16 view
  • Added more vim motions:
    • h and l to switch between tabs
    • j and k to scroll line by line
    • ctrl + d and ctrl + u to page down and up
  • Added filtering to the colour list, where only colors where the RGB components of the colours are above a given threshold:
    • r and R increases and decreases the red threshold
    • g and G increases and decreases the green threshold
    • b and B increases and decreases the blue threshold
